Role: SHE Advisor

Location: Region - Cambridgeshire / Northampton / Bury St Edmond (A1 Corridor from Cambs to North London)

Salary: GBP47,000 + Car

SHE Advisor

D7 Recruitment is working closely with a Tier 1 Construction Company seeking a SHE Advisor. This role is integral to ensuring the highest standards of safety, health, and environmental practices, particularly focusing on projects in and around Cambridgeshire / Northampton / Bury St Edmond areas.

Job Summary

D7 Recruitment is in search of an enthusiastic and knowledgeable SHE Advisor with a strong background in construction and a solid understanding of safety, health, and environmental legislation. The successful candidate will support the Building Division of our client, providing crucial advice and guidance on projects in and around Cambridgeshire / Northampton / Bury St Edmond areas. This role demands a proactive approach, excellent communication skills, and the ability to foster strong relationships with site teams, business units, and clients to ensure the effective implementation of SHE strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice on safety, health, environmental, and quality matters to project management and site staff.
  • Conduct compliance audits and lead cultural/behavioural safety initiatives.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, contributing to a culture of safety and prevention.
  • Assist with or deliver training programs, including site inductions and toolbox talks.
  • Review and approve SHE documentation for the company and subcontractors.
  • Prepare updates for site bulletins, legislation, and advisory memos.
  • Contribute to the development and updating of safety and environmental management plans.
  • Encourage and lead by example in safety observation reporting.
  • Support the SHE team in pre-qualification questionnaires, bid responses, and environmental compliance documentation.

Essential Criteria

  • NEBOSH General Certificate or NEBOSH Construction Certificate as a minimum requirement.
  • Holder of a CSCS / SMSTS qualification
  • Asbestos awareness or management
  • In-depth knowledge of health & safety and environmental legislation relevant to the construction industry.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in construction or a related discipline.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively, with strong numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Desirable Attributes

  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate or Diploma.
  • Direct experience with construction site teams.
  • Ambition towards Cert IOSH or equivalent professional status.
  • Knowledge of behavioural safety approaches and management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001).
