Job Description

As a SHEQ Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our company adheres to the highest SHEQ standards, regulations, and best practices. You will collaborate closely with various departments to implement, monitor, and continuously improve SHEQ processes and procedures across our organization. Your expertise will be instrumental in fostering a culture of safety, health, environmental stewardship, and quality excellence.
Purpose of role
To bolster the delivery team by offering specialised coaching, guidance, and training to inspire managers, staff, and contractors towards achieving legislative compliance and fostering continuous improvement. This effort aims to establish world class health, safety, and environmental performance, driving towards net zero emissions and enhanced sustainability.
Responsibilities
* Assist projects in aligning with the company's health, safety, and environmental strategy, ensuring managers take full responsibility for their duties.
* Provide relevant input on health, safety, and environmental matters during the tender and contract award process.
* Act as a central point of contact for health and safety guidance to project teams, ensuring effective implementation of Construction Phase Plans.
* Offer guidance on environmental sustainability to meet targets and drive towards net zero objectives.
* Support accident/incident investigations and communicate learnings to prevent recurrence.
* Challenge existing practices to integrate health, safety, and environmental best practices without compromising business objectives.
* Foster a culture of safety through behaviour-based coaching and contribute to formal safety assessments.
* Liaise with the broader construction industry to share and implement lessons learned.
* Maintain positive relationships with local stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and environmental agencies.
* Provide expert advice on CDM regulations for gas projects, including roles such as Client, Principal Designer, and Principal Contractor.
* Support project representatives in understanding their SHE roles and responsibilities.
* Conduct reviews of contractor documentation, and participate in safety meetings, audits, and inspections.
* Provide independent H&S audit capabilities and ensure effective management of the CDM Risk Register.
* Assist in evaluating contractor competence and identifying training needs.
* Deliver monthly H&S data and safety statistics to management as required.
* Cultivate internal relationships to address issues, foster learning, and promote collaboration.
About You
* Interpersonal, Supervisory, or Management Skills
* Proficient interpersonal skills with a track record of coaching and motivating individuals.
* Effective communication and influencing abilities across all organizational levels.
* Aptitude for proposing preventive actions and coordinating their implementation.
* Ability to develop and deliver training material in an engaging and effective manner.
* Demonstrated determination to achieve business goals and personal commitment.
Technical or Specialist Skills
* Proficiency in auditing and root cause analysis techniques.
* Ability to identify patterns of resistance and employ effective problem solving strategies.
* Strong understanding of CDM Regulations, particularly in Client, Principal Designer, and Principal Contractor roles.
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential:
* NEBOSH Certificate with significant relevant construction SHE and Gas industry experience.
* Knowledge and experience in Environmental management requirements.
* Valid full UK driving license.
* EUSR Cross Country Pipelines / SHEA Gas certification.
