Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) Advisor (Multi-Utilities)
Location: Field Based (West Midlands)
Salary: £35,000 - £42,000

Summary
- To provide professional health, safety and environmental advice and support across the organisation, specifically within our multi-utility self-lay activities.
- Assist the SHEQ Manager in developing and implementing the company health, safety and environmental management system.
- Promote a positive health and safety culture, adopting a risk-based approach, prioritise and manage risk both working alone and as a part of a team, with a positive “can do” attitude.
- Prepared on annual basis in line with HSE Objectives and Targets
Specific Responsibilities / Tasks
- Deliver timely and sufficient response to requests for expert health, safety and environmental advice across the business
- To proactively identify health, safety and environment risks and propose improved solutions to help ensure they are adequately controlled
- To ensure incident investigations are co-ordinated and effective in line with corporate and legislative requirements through gathering essential information, analysing, identifying root cause and contributory factors and making suitable recommendations to prevent future incidents
- To develop as required, policies and procedures that provide information and guidance to the business on health, safety and environmental issues
- Assist in developing and implementing the company health, safety and environmental management system
- To keep up to date with changes to developments in health, safety and environmental legislation and other requirements that affects the organisation and wider industry
- Assist in the development, effective monitoring, collation and reporting of management information as detailed within the Group’s HSE plan
- Provide transformational leadership and coaching on health, safety and environment at all levels of the organisation including the development and delivery of training and employee briefings
- To provide regular communication throughout the organisation to promote a positive health, safety and environment culture
- Undertaking depot inspections and site safety tours of operatives, service providers and field based managerial staff providing expert HSE advice
- Assist with the collation, recording and ensuring closure of all non-conformances raised from site audits, incidents and premise audits
- Deputising for SHE Manager as required and provide support to the SHEQ Advisors
- Complete any other reasonable duty as requested by the Group SHE Manager or Senior Management
Qualifications & Training
- Must hold a NEBOSH General / Construction certificate or equivalent
- Member of IOSH
- Associate member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (desirable)
Technical Skills & Experience
- Expert knowledge of health & safety and environmental legislation
- Strong multi-utility self-lay background is essential
- Knowledge and implementation of occupational health and behavioural based safety
- Ability to develop friendly and professional customer focused relations with others including Senior Management
- Ability to motivate employees to achieve high standards of compliance
- Relevant experience in a similar or other role involving the management of health, safety and environment in multi-utility disciplines.
