SHEQ Manager - Chemical Industry - Macclesfield - Up to £55,000

Our client a leader in the chemical industry is seeking a highly skilled and experienced SHEQ Manager to join their team in Macclesfield.
The successful candidate will develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive SHEQ management systems to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship, and drive continuous improvement across company operations.

SHEQ Manager - Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, chemistry, environmental science, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in SHEQ management within the chemical industry, with a strong understanding of relevant regulations and standards (e.g., COMAH, REACH, COSHH).
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve safety and quality objectives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct thorough risk assessments and root cause analysis.
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, CMIOSH) are highly desirable.
  • Experience with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 14001) is preferred.

SHEQ Manager - Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement SHEQ policies, procedures, and programs in alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards, assess compliance, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to employees at all levels to promote a strong safety and environmental culture.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to drive quality improvement initiatives and ensure adherence to quality standards throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, customers, and other stakeholders on SHEQ-related matters.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of preventive measures to mitigate future risks.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in SHEQ management to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
