Shift Engineer

We have a shift Engineer role available within DS Smith's packaging site. This role is ideal for someone with Mechanical or Electrical experience and skills and considers themselves to be an asset to a busy team.

Role: Shift Engineer (Mechanical or Electrical)

Location: DS Smith Packaging, South Mills, The Ridgeway, Blunham, Bedford MK44 3PH

Rate: 23.65ph

Contract length: 6 months initially

Shift Patterns: 42 hour working week on a four week shift pattern.

Shift pattern includes days and nights and weekend working for two out of four weeks. Days: 06:00-18:00. Nights: 18:00-06:00.

Responsibilities:

• Undertaking work of a predictive preventive and repair nature
• Meeting and exceeding KPI's for safety, quality and productivity
• Supervising contractors and ensuring they comply to site processes
• Maintaining comprehensive maintenance records
• Improving housekeeping standards in engineering workshops around the site
• Working with internal stakeholders to build good working relationships
• Adhering to current Health and Safety legislation at all times and ensuring others around you do the same

Essential requirements:

• Fully qualified Electrical or Mechanical Engineer accredited to a minimum of NVQ level 3 or BTEC
• Experience of PPM implementation, delivery and control
• Experience within a maintenance environment
• Experience conducting continuous improvement and root cause problem solving
• IT literacy especially with MS Office including Excel
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Desirable requirements:

• Driving licence and use of a car
• Experience and knowledge of SAP
• Knowledge of DS Smith as an organisation
