Job purpose:
To be responsible for widening the availability of Short Breaks to all unpaid Carers across Highland (young & adult) by developing break opportunities associated with the hospitality & tourism industry, this initiative is known as Respitality. Connecting Carers would like to further develop Respitality in Highland as part of the wider Carers Short Breaks offering. The postholder will play a lead role in this development. The postholder will support the development of a Short Breaks Bureau, which will comprise virtual, digital, and person-centred resources to generate a wide range of short break information for the benefit of Carers and their families and for providers of short break opportunities.
Key responsibilities – What you’ll do:
• To further enhance the overall Short Breaks Project at Connecting Carers for adult and young Carers
• To develop Respitality as a recognised concept in Highland
• To develop a virtual hub, known as a Short Breaks Bureau
• To develop partnerships between Highland Community Care Forum/Connecting Carers, commercial companies within the Hospitality, Tourism and Leisure industry and the wider Health and Social Care Partnership and Third Sector to generate more Short Break opportunities for Carers
• To support the wider management team to identify and access possible funding opportunities that extend the capability of providing Short Breaks to Carers.
• To develop the systems and processes required to successfully implement Respitality as a service available from the Carers Centre and to work in partnership with all sectors to implement in Highland
• Ensure effective evaluation processes of outcomes are in place for all aspects of the Short Breaks Project
• Provide timely and accurate reports and statistics as required by management, the Board and funders
• Work in partnership with the Short Breaks Facilitator to identify ‘what is possible’ in designing Short Breaks for Carers
• Act as one of two points of liaison between Carers seeking a break and matching them with the offers available from a wide range of options.
• Process applications to Respitality and other initiatives as part of the Short Breaks Project.
• Assist Carers to book breaks where required and assist them to access further support internally or externally where appropriate
• Explore and develop ways that Short Breaks will improve the wellbeing of Carers throughout the region
• Create partnerships in relation to Short Breaks that will demonstrate positive outcomes for Carers.
• Build up a knowledge base of short break opportunities for Carers and act as a resource to the wider Carers Support Staff team
• To promote the Short Break project across all partner organisations including other commissioned Carers organisation and raise awareness of how important Short Breaks are for Carers.
• To work alongside Shared Care Scotland promoting the range of Short Break initiatives they deliver
• To work directly with the Short Breaks Facilitator and the Office and Finance Administrator to ensure all processes involved with delivery of Short Breaks for all Carers are effective and efficient
• Comply with the Carers Centre policies and procedures
• Take responsibility for Continuing Professional Development by taking part in relevant training
• Undertake any other tasks or duties necessary to achieve the goals of the organisation
