Salary: £23,893 – £24,702 a year pro rata in addition you will be paid 1/3rd enhancement for night work and subject to qualifying you will be paid time & half for weekend working

Are you passionate about working as part of a team to provide Short Breaks for children and young people with additional needs? If yes, we want to hear from you.
We have an exciting opportunity for a focused and motivated Short Breaks Worker to work nights, where you will work as part of a team providing Short Breaks for children and young people with additional needs and to work with these young people across all aspects of the service and within the community when required, which includes clubs, day care, parenting support and a residential component.
In this vital role, you’ll plan and take responsibility for the care and safeguarding of the young people and security and cleanliness of the Short Breaks Hub during the night, ensuring the provision of high quality, cost effective short break care
About you
We are looking for someone with demonstrable relevant experience in a residential care or similar setting.
You’ll have the ability to communicate sensitively, clearly and persuasively, gaining co-operation and trust, dealing with challenging behaviours, maintaining own emotions and composure, building caring positive relationships.
You’ll be able to implement agreed care plans and assist in the assessment of needs of the young people.
You’ll have the ability to perform practical care tasks and domestic tasks (including manual handling and administration of medication, after training).
This is an important role where you’ll have the ability to develop your existing knowledge and awareness of the key principles of the Childrens Act.
We do ask that you have Level 3 Caring for Children or equivalent and are able to work at night either between 9.45 pm till 7 am or 10.45 pm till 8.00 am including evening, weekends and some bank holidays as required.

A person’s criminal record will not in itself prevent a person from being appointed to this post. However in the event of the employment being taken up, any failure to disclose such offence, as detailed above, will result in dismissal or disciplinary action by the Authority.
