Exciting Opportunity: Site Electrical Engineerin Stublach Natural Gas Storage site in Cheshire

 

About Storengy UK

Storengy UK is a subsidiary of ENGIE, we developed and now operate the Stublach Natural Gas Storage site in Cheshire, the largest onshore in the UK.

We are actively participating in the energy transition and supporting the UK government strategy to reach net zero by 2050. We have set our own carbon neutral target of 2025. A strategy to develop biomethane production in the UK and an ambition to create and operate hydrogen storage further support these targets.

 

About the role

Storengy UK are recruiting for a Site Electrical Engineer to be based in Cheshire. This is a Permanent role, working full time Monday to Friday. On offer is a competitive salary, bonus and benefits package.

 

Purpose of this role

The purpose of the role is to ensure the safe operation of Stublach's electrical and gas plant assets, safeguarding personnel and the environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out assigned tasks and duties in a safe manner, in accordance with instructions and to comply with safety rules, procedures, regulations, legislative guidelines and codes of practice.
  • Prepare and be responsible for switching schedules and carry out switching routines for the Stublach site.
  • Take ownership for the issuing and receiving of safety documents relating to switching activities.
  • Liaise with Scottish Power and arrange switching operations at the 132 KV Lostock Sub-Station, understanding their electrical distribution maintenance activities and the implications for the Stublach site.
  • Monitor and arrange the electrical training for the Gas Plant Technicians.
  • Support to the Operations & Maintenance Teams in areas of Electrical Engineering
  • Lead on defining the maintenance requirement of electrical equipment on site, considering cost criticality, strategic electrical spares and safety to ensure operational compliance and efficiencies are maintained.
  • Support the Gas Plant team for the project phase 2 handover, with a specific focus on electrical systems and MAN Compressors, and the handover acceptance criteria.
  • Support the development and subsequent ownership of the MAN Contract, with particular focus on the electrical aspects such as the motor and ABB drive
  • Deliver operational based electrical improvements that minimise downtime / maximise plant availability and gas plant reliability
  • Define outage plans for electrical systems, taking responsibility for the any electrical based outage works

 

Key Requirements

  • Experience of operating and maintaining electrical systems up to 132kV.
  • Extensive experience in operations/maintenance of processing plants/equipment, preferably within the oil and gas industry.
  • Ability to deal with complex and sometimes ambiguous/conflicting data.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills particularly for technical problems and ability to deliver solutions.
  • Ability to manage a varied workload with conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to communicate with both internal and external parties to ensure smooth and safe functioning of activities.
  • Adopts a consistent approach, checks the quality of work and meets deadlines
  • Flexibility and resilience to overcome setbacks/obstacles
  • HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering
