About the Opportunity

Nuclear Power Programmes are delivering client critical works to some of our major UK and European Projects. Our embedded teams are delivering support to Hinkley Point C (New build power station in the South West), Sizewell C (located in the South East), helping develop technologies in SMR (Small modular Reactor) capability and working towards building Poland's first Nuclear Power station.

Working in both client facing and internal roles we are delivering major programme and project management capabilities throughout the project lifecycle. We are driving to deliver safe, high quality and to time solutions by thinking innovatively and working collaboratively.

The HPC Site Fire Safety Manager will work within the HPC Principal Contractor team and engage with and establish working relationships as a minimum with the Programme Construction Delivery Leads, Programme Managers and the Tier 1 fire managers / advisors which enables high performance in the control of all programme Fire Safety risks. The HPC Site Fire Safety Manager will provide the Principal Contractor advice, guidance and standards to support activities which focus on establishing, promoting, maintaining and continually improving the Fire Safety management arrangements and culture across the HPC Project. Key Accountabilities :

  • Manage the HPC Construction Site Fire Safety arrangements and team to support an integrated approach to deliver adequate Fire Safety arrangements.
  • Establish, monitor and review a robust Fire Safety management system including the setting of policy, standards and strategies.
  • Anticipate future fire needs on the construction site based on the anticipated risk profile and ensure construction activities can continue in line with project needs whilst ensuring legislative compliance to meet our Zero Harm ambition.
  • Manage the Fire Safety Team, delivering monthly and annual objectives, goals and KPIs to support and measure the HPC delivery programme.
  • Establish and maintain the required Fire Safety meetings, forums and engagements which plan, manage, monitor, coordinate and review Fire Safety in accordance with the HPC site requirements.
  • Support key regulatory interventions and inspections leading on Fire Safety related matters and being a key stakeholder to provide the Regulators confidence in the adequacy of Fire Safety arrangements on the HPC Construction Site.
  • Manage a Fire Safety Assurance programme to assure Fire Safety standards across the HPC Construction Site, identifying findings and actions, ensuring timely close out and completion.
  • Produce relevant, regular and appropriate Fire Safety performance reports and dashboards, in accordance with agreed timeframes, which will include the identification of trends and early warnings of possible issues, recommending appropriate action.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Membership (or working towards) of the Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM) or equivalent organisation.
  • Health, Safety & Fire Safety Qualified via an approved professional body or organisation i.e. UK Fire Service College, FPA, IFE, NEBOSH etc
  • Demonstrates a knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices of Health & Safety & Fire Safety.
  • Competent in using Microsoft applications and an aptitude to learn new software packages.
  • Proven track record of achieving excellent Fire Safety results on operating, engineering and/or construction projects.
  • Chartered membership of IOSH or equivalent
  • IFE Membership and Qualification
