Position: School Site Maintenance Officer
Location: Wilmslow
Salary: £22,369 - £24,054 per annum
An exciting opportunity has emerged for an enthusiastic individual to join my clients school as a Site Maintenance Officer in the vibrant city of Crewe. This pivotal role involves ensuring the upkeep and functionality of the school premises, contributing to a safe and positive learning environment.
Responsibilities:
Building Maintenance:
- Effect repairs and improvements to the school building to fulfil responsibilities under LMS (Local Management of Schools).
- Undertake minor repairs in areas such as electrical, plumbing, glazing, and joinery as needed.
Engineering System Operation:
- Monitor and operate the engineering system, promptly reporting any faults to ensure efficient use of fuel and water.
Contractor Oversight:
- Discuss and monitor the work of contractors engaged by the school, ensuring adherence to specified standards.
Security Systems:
- Monitor, operate, and maintain site security systems, including opening and closing the building during school hours, lettings outside school hours, and responding to callouts for security-related matters.
Health and Safety:
- Maintain and monitor Health and Safety standards, reporting any non-compliance with statutory obligations. Ensure contractor work complies with Health and Safety Regulations.
Supervision of Staff:
- Supervise cleaning staff, allocate tasks, and provide guidance on day-to-day responsibilities.
Portering and Cleaning Duties:
- Organize and carry out portering and cleaning duties, including the movement of heavy furniture, to optimize resource efficiency.
Resource Management:
- Order necessary supplies to maintain an appropriate stock of resources.
Banking Duties:
- Perform banking duties if required.
Work-Related Qualifications and Skills:
- Work-related/maintenance/building engineering qualification(s).
- Good general education and competent DIY/building skills.
- Health & Safety awareness.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, sense of humour, flexible approach, and willingness to adapt to changing needs.
- Understanding of the special needs of the pupils and the work of the school.
- Ability to work on own initiative and take responsibility.
- Physically able to lift and carry equipment.
