Site Operations Control - Team Manager

Salary - Starting From £45,370 - £55k (Depending on experience and suitability for the role)

Location - Reading / Basingstoke Area

Are you an experienced and dynamic leader looking for a challenging role in operational management? AWE is seeking a Site Operations ControlTeam Manager to join the team and drive operational excellence. Reporting to the Business Resilience Group Manager this role is pivotal in executing operational planning and consequence management.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Accountable for overseeing operational work requests with focus on out of hours to oversee, lead and implement a Control and Monitoring framework for activities occurring on the site which may require a strategic overview of de-confliction, or which have the potential to adversely affect business or site status.

  • Development and implementation of an appropriate risk and consequence analysis framework and process to ensure operations being undertaken outside normal working hours have the appropriate response and controls in place.

  • Ensuring a balance is maintained between proposals and plans to carry out major work operations and is within the declared availability of the company's emergency response and support resources.

  • Implementation of a Preparedness and Pre -Planning framework for foreseeable threats that could impact or threaten day-to-day operations. Example: Adverse Weather, Protest Activity, Security issues, planned power outages, fuel shortages, Infectious Disease to include the oversight and management of restricted airspace process

  • Management and implementation of key Service Level Agreements and customer relationship metrics

  • Lead, build and manage a high-performing operational team.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring core business is not adversely affected by monitoring proposals and plans to carry out work operations out of hours, ensuring internal approval process is understood, communicated, and reviewed regularly, with the appropriate governance and controls in place.

  • Maintain open lines of communication across E&L and the wider AWE organisation ensuring Group Manager BRG and the wider Site Control management team are kept informed on things that may impact operations.

  • Managing post disruptive event reviews to track effectiveness, challenges, refinement opportunities and reflection into response planning and operational resilience framework.

  • The Company may require you to fulfil any other reasonable duties aligned to your position from time to time in line with business needs.

  • Maintaining and promoting high personal standards in safety, health, security, and quality and be a great team player.

Whilst not to be considered a check list, candidates should be able to demonstrate some of the following:

  • A keen attention for detail and ability to analyse and interpret large data sets, summarise, and present back as management information (proficient in the use of MS Excel. PowerPoint)

  • Exceptional organisational skills and ability to manage and prioritise workload.

  • Comfortable to work with stakeholders of all levels, seeking opportunities for continuous improvement.

  • Ability to collate, assimilate, analyse, and distil data and summarise intelligently to support decision making and action resolution.

  • A good knowledge of nuclear sites and their operations, hazards and minimum manning requirements would be desirable but is not essential.

  • A good understanding of Operational Control systems and procedures

  • Demonstrable analytical experience and prior experience of activity planning and risk.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate operational control and related concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences, strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.

  • High level of personal integrity, with the ability to handle confidential and otherwise sensitive matters professionally.

  • Prior experience as a Facility Manager or equivalent position of responsibility.

All candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role and be willing and able to work in designated areas.
