Job description

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily management of the site personnel & office based team
  • Active involvement and overall management of HSQE
  • Work with Site Manager to oversee all site activities and ensure competency of individuals carrying out duties
  • Take ownership of our works, supporting with planning and coordinating all site based activities to ensure safe and effective working
  • Ensure all site specific requests (e.g. fixed scaffold, electrical isolations, Permits to enter etc) take place in a timely manner
  • Interpret drawings and client specifications and communicate directions to site personnel and suppliers
  • Ensure RAMS reflect ever evolving site works and cover any new risks
  • Request outstanding information from the clients project team and confirm/record all verbal instructions in writing
  • Ensure all necessary approvals are in place to allow our works to progress without risk
  • Review buildability and identify methods of construction with commercial or programme advantage where possible
  • Attend site meetings, subcontract and internal meetings - maintain and circulate notes and action points
  • Maintain site progress record updating the contract programme and support with producing short term programmes
  • Produce necessary reports to the client
  • Support month end commercial applications
  • Inform the QS of any matter for which extra payment may be due or additional costs are involved
  • Identify non-conformances and implement corrective action
  • Keep the main site diary record and complete other site documentation as required
  • Arrange for the rectification of defects found
  • Close out all issues raised by safety, quality and environmental reports and audits
  • Be aware of the conditions of the main contract and the conditions attendances of our contract with Subcontractors
  • Be involved in the management of the contract and undertake other reasonable tasks that may be required by the line manager

Experience & Skills

  • Good written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate with colleagues, clients and third parties, in a warm and persuasive way both formally and informally and able to alter style and method to suit audience
  • Proven track record of working within a construction management environment with a strong track record of the high HSEQS standards
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Knowledge / experience working on NEC contracts
  • Organised with good time management and capable of proactive planning
  • Ability to get the best out of individuals, teams & trade contractors and build consensus where differences of opinion arise
  • Ability to relate Company commercial strategy to own activities
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of all the trades required on site, the codes of practice relating to them and the requirements for them to be able to carry out required works
  • Delivery focused and driver of performance
