What is the SZC Nuclear Business scheme?


You'll embark on a 2-year scheme where you can kick start your career at the cutting edge of project development and where you can really make a difference, if this sounds like something you'd be interested in then come join our new Sizewell C Graduate Scheme. You will work on one of the most exciting and largest megaprojects in the world, whilst being at the forefront of the UK’s climate change agenda and energy policy.


Following on from the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the SZC Project is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, which has obtained planning approval and Government financing support. The project is now seeking private investment with a view to start construction in 2024. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with Renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050. The SZC Nuclear Business Graduate Programme will consist of a series of placements lasting up to 6 months, where you will have the opportunity to submit your preferences for the areas you are interested in across the corporate level of the project.

Where you’ll work:


You can be based in either of our Leiston (Suffolk) or London office with the opportunity to work on a hybrid basis.


What you’ll need to join our team:


  • We are open to disciplines in Finance, Business, Economics, Politics, Energy & Sustainability and Data Analytics may be advantageous to the nature of the programme.
  • 2:2 (expected or obtained) in any undergraduate or postgraduate degree
  • A genuine interest in the energy industry and a passion for sustainability and being a part of making a difference.
  • We will need you to be open minded, flexible and have an agile way of thinking to succeed in a dynamic fast paced project environment.
  • Having a strategic mindset that brings innovative ideas.
  • Effective interpersonal skills are key, as well as being able to demonstrate high ethical behaviour, integrity, humility, and character.
  • Effective communication skills will be required to manage your stakeholders whilst prioritising competing demands.
  • To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least 3 of the last 5 years.


Our Assessment Centre will be held virtually on Tuesday the 5th of March.
