Company Description

An exciting opportunity to join the team at a progressive, family-owned farming business on Salisbury Plain, Wiltshire, encompassing 5,000 acres of arable farming, renewable energy, environmental projects, and commercial property. The business is focused on improving soil health and we utilise zero till drilling wherever possible. Our fertiliser requirements are predominately met by digestate provided by our on-site 3MW Anaerobic Digester. In collaboration with Farmacy, we run a 150ha farm-scale trials site, designed to test radical farming ideas for the future.

The farm is actively involved in environmental conservation and is part of the Countryside Stewardship Higher Tier scheme.  Margins, woodland, the River Wylye and species rich chalk downland make up a large part of the farm.

The business is extensively diversified, with significant renewable energy and commercial property assets. This includes over 20 commercial tenants ranging from sole traders to nationwide businesses. We also host one of the premier driven game shoots in southern England.

Job Description

The role requires an enthusiastic and energetic individual who is personable and hands on. The applicant will be based within the arable team and should be confident operating a wide range of arable machinery throughout the year, as well as interacting with colleagues and members of the wider farm economy. Experience in a similar role would be preferred.

We offer a competitive renumeration package, based on the experience of the applicant.

Roles may include but are not limited to:

• Drilling (Amazone Cayena 6m, John Deere 8R tractor).
• Combining (x2 New Holland CR8.90).
• Cultivations.
• Umbilical digestate spreading.
• Relief Spraying with (Sands 30m Self Propelled Sprayer).
• Slug pelleting and Avadex applications.
• Machinery maintenance.
• Estate maintenance.
• Helping to deliver farm, estate, and environmental projects.

Person Specification

• Previous experience in a similar role preferred.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Competent using modern GPS guidance systems.
• Professional manner.
• Ability to work autonomously and take responsibility for tasks.
• PA1, PA2, PA4 G+S preferred but not essential.
• Telehandler ticket preferred but not essential.
