Requirements

We are currently recruiting Senior Practitioners to work in our locality Children and Family Teams in Hamilton and Lanark. To apply for a Senior Practitioner post you will need to have extensive experience in working with children and families in a statutory setting. You will have knowledge of relevant policies, legislation, and guidance together with an ability to assess and manage risk.

To apply for a Senior Practitioner post you must have 3-year post-qualifying experience, accompanied by:

Evidence of a Post Graduate Qualification (Practice Teacher Award, PG in Child Protection or equivalent), or

Extensive evidence of additional learning and development in contemporary childcare practice.

Evidence of management of complex cases These new Senior Practitioner roles will offer a route for career progression for Social Workers who want to continue to develop their career without becoming a line manager of other workers.

Candidates should be able to detail any gaps in employment and provide a foreign police check where applicable for any periods living or working abroad.

This post is excepted in terms of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 2003.

Regulated Work with Protected Adults

This post is considered Regulated Work with Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with protected adults.

Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by South Lanarkshire Council.
