South Lanarkshire Council is seeking a Sustainable Development Officer to join our team and help spearhead South Lanarkshire’s response to climate change. As Sustainability Development Officer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the Council’s sustainability initiatives, working collaboratively with stakeholders to implement sustainable practices and drive positive change across the Council and within our community.

Based within Community and Enterprise Resources, with a Council wide influence, the opportunity has arisen for a forward-thinking Sustainable Development Officer to help set and maintain our strategic direction within this agenda.
The post-holder will work in a small team of experienced and dedicated Sustainable Development Officers and will report to the Sustainability Adviser. The team sits within the Enterprise and Sustainable Development Service, which is led by the Head of Enterprise and Sustainable Development.

About You
- You’ll have a degree or equivalent in a relevant subject or have experience in energy, environment, or sustainability disciplines.
- You’ll have a genuine commitment to sustainability with the dedication and drive to really make a difference.
- You’ll have great leadership and communication skills to engage and inspire others to achieve our sustainability ambitions.
- You’ll be able to navigate through challenges and obstacles with determination to find solutions.
- You’ll have the ability to make your way around South Lanarkshire.

Responsibilities
What You’ll Be Doing
Your key tasks will include:
- Leading on the development of regular Sustainable Development and Climate Change update reports, liaising with Council officers to ensure these reports are robust and show progress.
- Undertaking activities and projects which will challenge and assist the Council in its approach to sustainability and climate change, including developing and organising training, researching best practice and completing self-evaluation toolkits.
