Social Impact Outreach Manager

Based in Crawley - Hybrid working with 3 days in the office

You will be responsible for the project management and delivery of Social Impact initiatives, projects and activities with a key focus on STEAM education and the development and execution of strategies to create positive social change and business value. You will support our local communities to develop the skills required for sustained and meaningful employment and to develop a pipeline of talent to fill Early Careers roles within Thales and the wider engineering and tech sector, specifically in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics.

You will bring in new ideas, concepts and partners to diversify the early careers talent pipeline focusing on underrepresented groups in our workforce such as: females, people of the global majority and people from lower socio-economic backgrounds. After piloting new projects, the post holder will support teams to operationalise initiatives in the most efficient way to create value to the business.

The role supports the UK ambition for the Thales Early Careers employees to be a true reflection of the communities in which it operates and the Thales Group Targets for 2030: Societal commitment for Thales employees to share their knowledge around the world; and the ‘Tech Vocation Maker’ to reach 1M pupils.

You will lead on: STEAM education in both formal and informal education settings, such as the Army, Air and Sea Cadets; forming and shaping the purpose and objectives of the Thales Early Careers Committee.

You will work with our internal and external communications teams to promote good news stories across all social media platforms.

This role will require SC Clearance. It would be advantageous if currently held; if not currently held it is expected that the post holder will undergo SC Clearance, please visit the UKSV website for further guidance.

About You:-

You will have significant experience within careers or education preferably within a corporate environment and can demonstrate the ability to be creative and bring new innovative ideas and changes to make a difference. Able to bring a unique approach to solving business problems, drawing on multiple perspectives, questioning and listening to others to formulate a solution together with the following:-

  • Able to anticipate future business needs and design new, different and simplified solutions to maximise business impact
  • Able to share a compelling vision both internally and externally around Social Impact and engage with multiple stakeholders
  • Comfortable working in the ‘unknown’ as new projects are introduced, able to ‘test and learn’ through exploration and experimentation
  • Able to develop systems, processes and workflow to help others to deliver results and take accountability for project success, by monitoring metrics and milestones to show progress and impact
  • Advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organisation, promoting policies and practices that foster a culture of belonging and respect for all employees
