Role purpose
The Social Impact Specialist will provide marketing, communications, and programme support to the Communications Manager. The role will support the promotion and management of the Access to Education and Employment programmes, including the ‘Time to...’ programmes and Social Mobility Business Partnership event, along with those provided by the charities supported by the Foundation / Belfast Grants Committee; manage and co-ordinate volunteering opportunities; and manage the matched giving initiative in Belfast.

Role and responsibilities

Development and delivery of education and employment programmes:
Research around key issues: identifying opportunities for our client to contribute to thought leadership and establish new activities, for example around school exclusions.
Assist with planning and delivery of flagship programmes, including Business in the Community NI's ‘Time to....’ programme, and the Social Mobility Business Partnership (SMBP) event. The ‘Time to...programme will involve developing and maintaining relationships with external programme coordinators; promoting programmes across the office; managing sign-ups, training and maintaining contact with participants; organising contribution to World Book Day. The SMBP event involves developing a programme for the day, in association with participating departments; liaising with SMBP and all participants; smooth delivery of catering and AV requirements; provide administrative support; attendance on the day.

Volunteering
Initiate contact with charities funded by the Belfast Grants Committee to determine volunteering opportunities.

Provide advice and guidance to charities regarding volunteering and seek opportunities where expertise will be most beneficial. Secure a mix of one-off, short and longer-term initiatives; geographically diverse; skills-based and generic volunteering opportunities.

Promote volunteering opportunities within the Belfast office using Vuture emails, digital signage, intranet, and Thrive portal (once live).

Liaise with Senior Management and People Managers to recruit teams/individuals directly.

Manage responses to volunteering requests, answer queries and provide support when required.

Belfast Grants Committee
Develop impact assessment report template to understand benefit of funding, reach and engagement with input and approval from Belfast Grants Committee.
Follow-up with charities to ensure impact assessment report is completed at the end of each funding cycle.
Share impact assessment reports with Belfast Grants Committee and use results to shape future opportunities.
Assist with promoting call for applications and the charities to be funded.

You will be a string fit for this role if..

- Hold experience working in community investment or charities

- Experience promoting and managing events.

- Have a strong interest in education, employability, and justice issues.

- Experience managing volunteers - recruitment, risk assessments and record checks.

- Data management knowledge

- Multitasker with a passion for for Social Impact.
