Job description

JOB OUTLINE:

Disability Resource Centre (DRC) is one of the leading Disabled People’s Organisations (DPO) in the West Midlands and we are run by disabled people, for disabled people and we support over 4,500 disabled people each year across our services. An opportunity has arisen to join our team as Social Media and Communications Officer working with the Fundraising and Marketing Team and the Yardley Neighbourhood Network Scheme (YNNS) to develop our Social Media presence and audience.

Of the 20 hours, 6 hours per week of the post is funded by DRC and this will be spent supporting the Fundraising and Marketing Team in delivering their Social Media plans including sourcing and writing engaging content from the DRC team, designing, and implementing online campaigns, posting and responding to posts and processing and presenting analytics of performance.

The remaining 14 hours will be supporting the YNNS team. Neighbourhood Network Schemes are locality and Constituency based networks which enable the engagement with and investment in community assets. This is for the purposes of supporting disabled adults and the Over 50’s to connect to individuals, groups, organisations, activities, services, and places in their neighbourhoods. This approach is integral to the new community social work model and the overall investment by Adult Social Care in “Prevention First”.

  • Film, edit, and create professional video content for online platforms. This includes case studies, demonstrations of local activities, and promotional materials against key dates for the year.
  • Present information clearly and effectively in multiple formats, both verbally and written. Actively listen and engage with diverse stakeholders to understand their needs and perspectives.

  • To engage with the citywide YNNS forums and network, coordinated by BVSC, including regular attendance at meetings, as appropriate.
  • To contribute to cross-city NNS collaboration and learning between Constituencies where appropriate.

GENERAL:

  • Be a role model, leading by example in practising the Values of DRC to achieve our Vision and Mission.
  • Play an active and supportive role within the organisation.
  • Take ownership of all administrative aspects of the role.
