Job title: Software and Appliance QA Engineer

Location: Malvern

Salary: £40,000 to £50,000 plus benefits

The successful candidate will work as part of a team developing Software and delivering Software and hardware systems to customers. You will be responsible for finding and reporting bugs in new software, regression-testing updated software, and acceptance-testing new hardware appliances. The ideal candidate will own the system and acceptance testing strategies and contribute to their automation.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement testing strategies and procedures for network appliances and software.
• System testing of new features.
• Regression testing of new builds.
• Acceptance testing and qualification of new hardware appliances prior to shipment to customers.
• Assist in responding to customer support and queries.

Requirements:

Mandatory:

• More than 2 years of experience of software testing of Linux-based and networked systems.
• Experience of designing test cases.
• Detailed knowledge of Linux systems.
• Detailed knowledge of networking (Ethernet, IP, TCP/IP, TLS, HTTP).
• Knowledge of testing methodologies, tools and automation.
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and using own initiative.

Desirable: practical experience of:

• Test automation.
• Testing bespoke Linux systems (i.e. not based on a standard Linux distribution).
• Testing hardware appliances.
• Testing browser-based management interfaces.
• Performance testing.
