Role:
As the Software Asset License Manager, you will spearhead the development, implementation, and enhancement of a comprehensive Software Asset Management (SAM) framework. Your key responsibilities will entail the formulation of pertinent policies, streamlined processes, and meticulous procedures, alongside overseeing the entire spectrum of SAM assets through the Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) tool and Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
You will also orchestrate the software contract renewal lifecycle, collaborating closely with service owners and the procurement manager to navigate negotiations with third-party vendors, significantly impacting strategic investment decisions positively. Your adept management of these intricate processes will not only ensure compliance but also drive cost-effectiveness and maximise the value derived from Software Assets within the organisation

As a Software Asset License Manager, you'll have the following Responsibilities:
- Spearhead the ongoing efforts to construct, propel, and refine a resilient Software Asset Management (SAM) service.
- Cultivate and uphold SAM policies and procedures that delineate a comprehensive set of standards, principles, and frameworks.
- Develop and revise associated processes and protocols for the management of all SAM assets via the Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) tool, ensuring optimal maintenance and strategic reuse of Software Assets.
- Exercise authoritative oversight to deliver an efficient Software Asset management service organisation-wide.
- Strategise and run all SAM activities, ensuring the introduction and upkeep of industry best practices.
- Foster collaborative partnerships with service owners and business stakeholders to oversee the procurement of hardware and Software Assets, with meticulous attention to forecasting support costs.
- Employ Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to gauge performance and furnish regular reports for senior management.
- Serve as the primary liaison for Digital Policing, engaging in negotiations with vendors and suppliers of software and hardware contracts.
- Forge robust supplier management relationships to ensure the timely and budget-compliant delivery of software and applications while ensuring adherence to licensing regulations.
- Identify and mitigate software-related risks proactively.
- Expertise in existing license agreements and framework contracts to facilitate the delivery of new functionalities or address service issues.
Requirements:
- Proficient understanding of Software Asset management (SAM) principles, policies, and compliance processes, coupled with hands-on experience in SAM implementation.
- Comprehensive knowledge of core licensing programs, including Microsoft, and their implications within the organisational context.
- Extensive familiarity with procurement planning and management practices concerning IT assets, encompassing bids, contracts, and contract renewals.
- Demonstrated proficiency in utilising tools for software inventory and reporting, facilitating the efficient tracking and management of Software Assets.
- Proven track record of collaborating with relevant third-party suppliers in software procurement and compliance endeavors.
- Displayed analytical acumen, initiative, and creative problem-solving skills, coupled with adaptability, flexibility, and sound decision-making abilities.
- Experience in cultivating strong relationships and instilling confidence among internal and external stakeholders.
