Working in a world-class research lab, alongside leading experts in their fields, you’ll be helping to engineer and run systems enabling research on reading data in ground-breaking, innovative ways. You’ll be running exotic hardware devices in a lab setting, using modern languages and tools, and a lightweight process that prioritizes problem-solving and forwards progress over paperwork.
You’ll be working closely in a small team, learning about optics, and bringing your awesome software engineering skills to enable a fantastic optical storage technology to flourish.
You'll work with optical physicists to understand their required workflow, consider the existing code and how best to fit in to that, implement the feature, test it to ensure it works as expected without regressing other features, and deploying the code to our running rigs.
You'll work on understanding an issue, perhaps adding more diagnostics to capture additional detail needed, diagnose the root cause issue, fix it, and verify the fix.
Responsibilities:
• Maintaining our existing C# codebase which controls our optical imaging systems.
• Diagnosing and troubleshooting interactions between the hardware and software.
• Designing and implementing new features in the codebase to support ongoing research activities.
• Working closely with optical physicist to understand their needs and help smooth their day-to-day workflow.
