Software Development Manager

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced Software Development Manager to work within Digital and Technology environments leading and organising teams to deliver software solutions which meet the needs of our business.

The Development Manager will play a significant role as part of a wider leadership team working with colleagues to shape development practices and skills to build software solutions within the engineering practice. As a Development Manager you will be expected to understand the business needs and lead your team to support delivery of our Technology and Product Roadmaps. The role will provide oversight and direction interfacing with the other practices within the wider Digital and Technology function.

You'll drive team performance through product delivery to meet business needs and develop effective teams of skilled professionals by providing direction and coaching of agile working practices, alongside being responsible for high level resourcing plans, including recruitment and performance reporting within the function. You will build strong relationships engaging with peers and other colleagues working to common purposes from within the IT function and the wider business.

About You

With experience of working in an agile Software Development environment you will have a strong understanding of technologies used. You'll be able to provide appropriate challenge to create opportunities for improvement, whilst identifying and managing risk.

Being analytical in your approach with experience of evaluating capability needs and suitability of initiatives against the strategy you'll be exceptionally well organised and drive a high standard of output for yourself and team.

As an excellent communicator, innovator and self-motivated leader with a positive approach to team work, you will have the ability to challenge effectively and constructively, whilst driving best practice, both personally and with your colleagues, ensuring clear, well-informed and focused presentation of output to key stakeholders and clients at varying levels.

Through previous experience from working in the Financial Services industry or a heavily regulated sector is not essential, it would be seen as desirable.
