As a Software Engineer, you will work within a product team, to develop and integrate software powering smart connected residential buildings, allowing residents to live life and work productively. You will be welcome to and expected to, shape “big picture” technology and product development decisions.
What you’ll be doing:
- You will be an active member of the product team, supporting product creation, design, support and delivery by co-creating and maintaining software in line with coding standards.
- Documenting your projects for other developers, support staff and users
- Acting as an escalation point for technical problems with our in-house tools.
- Refactoring and improving established software code.
- Acting as an escalation point for technical problems with our in-house tools.
- You should be comfortable working with stakeholders from all areas of the business on projects & product/service development.
- Pair programming and code review to help share knowledge and calibrate learning in the team.
- Reviewing code and guiding the evolution of technical standards and procedures.
- Respectfully and tactfully challenge technical decisions, open to being challenged on your own.
- Recognise when team members might need help & assist them.
- Advocate for long-term product value and continuous improvement within the team and business.
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in object-oriented software development using modern PHP frameworks.
- Experience working in product teams rather than functional software teams.
- Experience building applications based on REST APIs.
- Knowledge and experience of SQL (Postgres preferred)
- The ability to collaborate across the business including non-technical colleagues and stakeholders.
- It is desirable to have experience and or knowledge in Agile software development.
Experience in any of the below are beneficial:
- Automated build, integration and deployment pipelines
- With container-based development
- In instrumenting applications.
- Languages like Go, Python or Node.JS.

Salary: £39,500.00-£42,500.00 per year
