Job description

Software Engineer Manager/Technical Lead | Cambridge, Remote/Hybrid working | Up to £80k with some incredible benefits ??

First things first, speaking of benefits, how does a remote first position with 41 days of annual leave and a 21% pension contribution sound? Not bad right ?????

If you are a hands-on Software Engineer manager or technical lead who enjoys having the autonomy and opportunity to be able to work on greenfield projects and not operate in the traditional way, this could be a role for you!

What you'll be doing:

You'll be leading and line managing a small team whilst remaining hands-on and staying very close to the tech. It's likely to be a 50/50 split between technical work, architecting and technical leadership and management. You'll be a part of a larger software team who are responsible for building new cloud-native services and modernising applications.

  • Keeping your team on track and motivated
  • Scheduling work sprints, working with other managers and managing dependencies
  • Translating requirements into technical requirements and work with your team to build and develop products
  • Developing cases for proposed new features, products or services

About you:

For this role, you'll need to be proficient in Python and Django. It would be beneficial if you have exposure with JavaScript, React, Terraform, Ansible, and GitLab and you come from a DevOps environment.

You'll have excellent knowledge of:

  • Web applications
  • API design
  • Docker containers
  • CI pipelines - building and testing web applications
  • Deploying web applications to the cloud

Also:

  • Have experience working across multifunctional teams
  • You'll be highly skilled in modern software tools and practices
  • You'll be passionate about driving standards and improving processes
  • You can comfortably manage a small team and create a great working atmosphere
  • Have a passion for DevOps and have a strong Software Engineering background
  • You don't need to have direct line management experience to be considered but is beneficial

This company has extremely high retention rates. It is the type of environment where they want you to achieve your personal goals and excel and propel your career. You'll have countless opportunities to learn and take part in tailored training schemes.

One of the most exciting aspects of this role is that you will be encouraged to push boundaries, try new things, and think outside the box. It's been described as a start-up environment in a very established company! You can make the role what you want it to be.

Benefits:

  • 41 days of annual leave including bank holidays
  • 21% company pension contribution
  • Remote/hybrid working
  • Extremely flexible and accommodating work environment
  • Quartly team days, lunches and activities
  • Relocation expenses
  • Money off health/lifestyle items, including gym membership, food etc.
  • Discount on tech devices
  • Loads of training and development opportunities
  • Amazing childcare benefits / parental leave etc
  • Cycle to work
