Role

We are looking for a talented Software Engineer, with experience working in back-end Web Technologies, to join Thales Training Solutions at what is an exciting time. You will be joining an existing team of dynamic engineers to play a key role in delivering Thales’ next generation digital twin and simulation products.

The teams work within an Agile development environment, using modern Continuous Integration (CI) processes and tooling.

The ideal candidate will have experience in one of the following domains; Defence, Simulation or Integration, and will have developed web services, ideally using Containerisation and Cloud-hosting.

Required Experience

•  Java (Spring framework) and Python
•  Software Continuous Integration & Delivery (CI/CD) ways of working
•  Micro-services Web Development
•  Virtualisation / Containerisation (Quarkus, Docker, Kubernetes)

Desired Experience

•  Agile Software Engineering
•  Puppet or PowerShell
•  Cloud Deployment / Infrastructure As Code (e.g. OpenStack, Terraform)
•  REST API
•  Authentication & Authorisation
•  JavaScript, Angular, React, Node.js

Key Duties

•  As a key engineer within the team, undertake the specification, design, implementation, test and integration of software in line with company processes and to required standards
•  Accurately define and estimate required effort for tasks
•  Contribute to successfully meet project and product deliverables within schedule and to budget
•  Produce quality software products by ensuring interfaces are well defined and documented, as well as correctly adhered to and understood
•  Mentor and share knowledge with junior team members
•  Work closely with Systems engineering to ensure traceable verification and validation of requirements
•  Professionally interact with internal and external customers to understand their needs
•  Provide feedback on the efficiency and effectiveness of the development environment

Additional Security Information

Due to the sensitive nature of much of the work undertaken by Thales Training Solutions, all applicants must hold or be eligible for UK MoD Security Clearance (SC level minimum).
