Software Licensing Specialist ( 24 month FTC )

In this position, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the software portfolio and key third-party suppliers for this global law firm. Collaborating with internal teams such as Procurement, In-House Legal, Product Owners, and Senior Stakeholders, you will contribute as a Subject Matter Expert in Software Asset Management (SAM).

Working closely with the Software Asset Manager, you will participate in the development and implementation of SAM strategies and processes to effectively manage, control, and safeguard software assets and their licensing throughout their lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Improving SAM strategy and governance to minimise risk and maximise efficiency.
• Serving as a mediator between IT and third-party software suppliers, handling intricate license discussions.
• Offering advice on Software Licensing to optimise existing investments, minimise risks, and guide new purchases.
• Managing software vendor audits, mitigating risks, and ensuring timely communication.
• Conducting internal software audits, generating Effective License Positions (ELPs) for renewals and negotiations.
• Understanding complex license models from Enterprise vendors and assessing their impact on the firm’s strategy.
• Collaborating with Procurement and Legal teams to enhance contractual positions.
• Interpreting vendor license models for negotiating optimal deals.
• Collecting and maintaining inventory data from various sources to manage assets.
• Ensuring the accuracy of deployment and entitlement data in the SAM tool.
• Analysing software usage data and communicating findings to stakeholders.
• Implementing efficient licensing models for projects and educating the Service Desk on SAM processes.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years' practical experience in a dedicated Software Licensing or software asset management role.
• In-depth experience managing Software Licensing for at least one Tier 1 vendor (Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, etc.).
• Experience in the professional services sector with an understanding of the demands on support teams by the business.
• Proven experience conducting detailed data analysis from disparate sources and interpreting complex licensing models.

Highly advantageous

• Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM)
