Are you an enthusiastic and passionate Solar PV Designer looking for an exciting opportunity to make a difference in the renewable energy sector? Our client is seeking a dedicated Solar Design Engineer to join their dynamic team. If you have a background in electrical or mechanical engineering and a proven track record in designing both domestic and commercial solar PV installations, we want to hear from you.

About the Role:

As a Solar Design Engineer, you will be a vital part of a small, dedicated team committed to advancing renewable energy solutions. You will oversee the entire lifecycle of your projects, from initial design through to specification and final sign-off of solar PV installations. This role requires a hands-on approach, including conducting site visits and surveys for prospective installations.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design and specification of solar PV installations for both roof and ground-mounted systems.

- Conduct site visits and surveys for domestic and commercial installations.

- Utilise a range of panel, inverter, metre, and mounting manufacturers.

- Create detailed PV installation designs using software such as PVsyst, AutoCAD, and PVSol.

- Produce tender documents and drawings for planning applications.

- Liaise with District Network Operators (DNOs) and Independent Connection Providers (ICPs).

Skills & Experience:

- Degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or significant experience in electrical PV design and installation.

- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in designing domestic and commercial ground mount installations.

- Proficient in PV design software including PVsyst, AutoCAD, and PVSol.

- Experience with combined heat and power (CHP), gas, and battery storage facilities.

- Familiarity with the DNO application submission process and design requirements.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, reporting directly to senior management.
