Job description

We are looking for a Solarwinds Specialist to join our Tools Operations Team. The role will be an internal customer facing position, leading a team of Network Platform & Applications Engineers responsible for the delivery of ITIL based framework of support activities, consisting of request, problem and change management. This includes the co-ordination of timely technical solutions and responses, including liaising with third party support and external contractors; monitoring progress and keeping users appraised, providing 3rd line support and administration of the following. What you will be doing:

  • Monitoring services such as Network Performance Monitoring, Network Traffic Analysis, VoIP Quality of Service Monitoring, Network Device Configuration backup, a companion product overlay (Vale Technology SAM) providing Service Availability Monitoring SLA's, front-end load balancers / Web Servers, IT Monitoring, also including Web Proxy and SMTP Gateway.
  • Integrations with other tooling systems such as IT Service management tooling (ITSM) for Event Management (Alerting) and CMDB (Asset Management).
  • Role-Based Access Control services such as LDAP integrated Identity Services Engine (TACACS), RADIUS Services, with Two Factor Authentication, underpinning a Remote Desktop farm providing RemoteApp Services providing access to management systems and Customer Network Devices.
  • Subject Matter Expertise regarding Best Practice, Modernisation, User Experience, Reporting (incl. SolarWinds SWQL), and Governance regarding use of tooling services.
  • Maintain a product/service catalogue of Tooling capabilities, standard integrations & automation solutions, communicating product lifecycles within the business.
  • Perform service/application patching & release updates, maintain network device backup schedules, and run daily checks on platform/systems.
  • Participate in the design process and undertake build/deployment of complex application platforms, and services.
  • In the event of major faults or planned system maintenance, to undertake necessary works outside of normal working hours.

What we are looking for:

  • Demonstrable experience of local and wide area networking at an enterprise level.
  • In-Depth experience of SolarWinds Network Management & Monitoring tooling.
  • Knowledge of SysLog-NG and Elastic Search tooling.
  • Experience delivering Automation and Process Engineering.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of working in ITIL-based support environments.
  • Experience of working within a matrix / shared services structure.
  • Ability to work effectively at pace and with competing priorities.
  • Good understanding of Information Security (ISO27001) principles & Cyber Essentials Plus.
