Job description

Been stuck in education too long?

You’re the kind of person who is keen to get on with your life. You’ve worked hard at school or college and are ready to apply your energy and passion to a new challenge.

A legal apprenticeship with Howes Percival is a great alternative to university where you gain a real career advantage. You get practical, hands on experience from day one, working on a wide variety of tasks that will help you to build your skills whilst spending one day a week studying for your qualifications.

Apprenticeships are more accessible

As attractive as university is, there’s no escaping the cost of it, which can put it out of reach. Not so with Apprenticeships.

Since you will be working from the beginning, you will also be paid. Better still, your pay rises over the course of your study period as you gain more qualifications and experience and begin to take on more client work.

What’s more, your training is fully funded so at the end of the six year course you will be a qualified solicitor without the debt that university brings.

The Course and experience

Our training provider is BPP University and during your first 2 years you will work towards a Level 3 Paralegal Apprenticeship. You will then carry on to complete the 4 year Level 7 Solicitor Apprenticeship. You’ll achieve a law degree and the assessment following this is the Solicitors Qualifying Exam. You’ll spend 4 days per week working for us and 1 day a week studying with the training provider. You will be assigned a supervisor who will work with you on a daily basis assigning you tasks and giving training and feedback.

In the office your day to day work might include:

  • Researching property law and case law;
  • Carrying out legal due diligence on properties;
  • Assisting solicitors with various tasks during the course of a property transaction ; and
  • Drafting correspondence, legal reports and legal documents under supervision.

Could you be our next legal apprenticeships recruit?

If you have or expect to gain 90 or more UCAS points, if you are enthusiastic about the profession, have an interest in property and if you have the energy and commitment to succeed, we want to hear from you.

To apply

You can apply by emailing your CV or if you do not have a CV, a letter explaining a bit about you and why you want to apply to recruitment@howespercival.com

The closing date for this vacancy is 31 March 2024.
