Our client is a traditional, established Legal 500 firm of solicitors with 3 offices in South London. They have 31 Partners, experts in their fields, recognised as outstanding individuals in the legal world by Chambers, The Legal 500 and their peers. They are committed to providing excellent client services for a diverse client base. They have a national reputation in niche areas and are in the top 200 firms in England.

They are looking for a Solicitor to join a team that specialises in providing Court of Protection Deputyship support for clients who have complex mental health issues. Many clients have ongoing Personal Injury or Clinical Negligence claims, leading to multi-million-pound awards. They require a solicitor to assist in maximizing their support/rehabilitation and entitlements. Others have complex disputes involving their property or family that require urgent intervention. They require a solicitor to ensure the protection of their funds and resolve family issues.

The role

• You will work closely with the Partner that oversees this team to provide comprehensive legal advice and representation to the clients and family members, within the context of the Mental Capacity Act and other relevant legislation
• Areas of work will include the management of Property and Affairs Deputyships, working with brain injured and vulnerable clients, Trust management, assisting with tax affairs and accounts, Personal Injury Trusts, Lasting Powers of Attorney and the full range of applications to the Court of Protection
• Other work will include monitoring clients’ budgets, liaising with case managers, doctors, therapists, care homes and other specialists

Ideally you will have Court of Protection experience, however, they are open to perhaps a clinical negligence/mental health solicitor who would be interested in this type of work.
