Who You Are
As a Solution Architect, you hold qualifications and experience relevant to the realm of technical expertise for the role, preferably with a minimum Degree or significant managerial experience. You hold relevant professional qualifications such as a Chartered IT Professional (CITP), BCS Practitioner, or are certified in an architecture design methodology such as TOGAF. You have in-depth knowledge and understanding of major trends in technology, specifically in local government and public services, and feature excellent problem-solving and analysis skills. You have proven track record of high performance in a large, multi-functional organisation comparable in scope, size and complexity. Your experience includes delivering digital transformation, providing expert professional advice on all ICT matters to senior leaders, managing and motivating employees to build effective teams, and conducting staff appraisals and performance reviews.
What The Job Involves
The role of Solution Architect requires delivering Solution Architecture services across the Council and within specific service areas. The job involves supporting the development and ongoing management of the Council's Architecture Vision and Principles ensuring all IT and Digital solutions are consistently designed and meet the Council's strategic and service needs. Tasks will involve leading the evaluation, identification, development, and delivery of solutions to improve and digitalise ICT services. This includes keeping abreast of technology trends, engaging with senior officers to define ICT requirements, and developing solutions to meet these requirements. Other duties will involve reviewing systems and identifying areas for improvement, sourcing new ICT products and services adhering to corporate practices, representing the Council in meetings, seminars and user groups, and analysing where savings can be made to the Council's ICT services and implement these changes. You will also contribute to the Council's Digital investment programme and develop relationships with partners and other stakeholders for innovation and efficiency. There will also involve people management, strategic duties and responsibilities related to decision making.
