Job description

Move the Masses is an active charity looking for tech support to help maintain and develop our internal systems including CRM. This is a great opportunity to develop technical skills or share your current knowledge and expertise.

What will you be doing?

Move the Masses (the charity which runs the Move Mates projects in York, Leeds, Durham, Pocklington and Selby) is looking for volunteer tech support to help maintain and develop our internal systems. Active participation in implementation decisions will be welcomed regardless of experience level and this is a great opportunity to contribute to a worthwhile cause and further develop technical skills or share your current knowledge and expertise.

Due fantastic support from volunteer developers we have been able to successfully build our own CRM system. We are now looking for support to build, develop and improve this going forward as well as wider support with our website and systems. You will work directly with the CEO and other tech volunteers to spec out updates.

A full tech specification of our systems is provided in the attached document but in short we are looking for support in the following areas to keen our existing systems efficient and keep our fantastic projects running.

We would welcome regular weekly support of 1-2 hours (or more if you have time!) and also one off support to help on specific projects. We are based in York but operate remotely throughout the UK so would welcome support regardless of where you are based.

The roles we would be looking for support with include;
Solution Architect
Experienced Full Stack Web Application developer with a working knowledge of one or more of the main technologies used, preferably Python/Django Framework. Support would include ensuring the overall architectural integrity of the solution, advising on the technical
roadmap for the development of the solution, providing occasional code review and mentoring for any other volunteer developer(s).

CRM developer (Python/Django)
A Web application Developer to assist us in maintaining the core component of our CRM system as used by Administrators and Coordinators within the Move Mates Project team.

App developer (React/Javascript)
A Web Developer to assist us in maintaining one or more React Components that form part of an integrated Web User Experience for the Volunteers and Beneficiaries.

WordPress developer (PHP)
A PHP Developer to assist us in maintaining one or more WordPress Plugins that form part of an integrated Web User Experience for the Volunteers and Beneficiaries.

What are we lookingfor?

We are looking for anyone with suitable skills to support the development of our CRM and website

Relevant skills and experience would include;

Experienced Full Stack Web Application developer with a working knowledge of one or more of the main technologies used, preferably Python/Django Framework.

CRM developer with specialisms in Python/Django.

App developer (React/Javascript)

WordPress developer (PHP)

What difference will you make?

Move Mates projects are impactful projects that help adults of all ages get active through a 1:1 buddy walking system. We support people who are facing barriers to getting active for a whole range of reasons including physical health conditions, mental health challenges or
lack of confidence. Our projects support people to get our walking from their own front door, leading to improved health, reduced isolation and more connected communities.

This role is essential in the ongoing development and support of our CRM which allows our projects to run smoothly and safely. You would be ensuring that we can continue to help hundreds of people get out walking, ensuring we are able to accurately capture our impact and keeping our systems safe and efficient.
