Job description

Due to growth we are looking for a Solution Owner (Energy Resilience) to join our vibrant team based in Aberdeen.

Costain’s Energy team improves people’s lives by solving our client’s complex energy challenges through excellence in engineering and delivery. We support clients through the whole project lifecycle, from identification of a problem and concept development, through design and into delivery. We have a rich heritage spanning over 70 years in the sector and we are now applying our expertise to the pressing priorities of the current age. There has never been a more exciting time to join our team. We are gearing up for growth across our target markets of Transition, Resilience and Connectivity and this has led us to restructure our business winning activities, leading to the creation of exciting new roles of “Solution Owners”.

The Business Winning team will be responsible for all work winning across the sector, from concept through to contract. The team will adopt a solutions mindset – understanding clients' needs, shaping discussions, offering solutions in line with Strategy and Capabilities across the Costain group, delivering bids and handing over for execution. You will be part of a highly motivated, ambitious team who want to use our talents to make a difference in the world.

We have a vibrant, challenging and growing business, with a work environment that provides tremendous opportunities for everybody. We know that by being a more diverse company we will be more innovative, have a greater understanding of our clients’ needs and will deliver smarter, more inclusive solutions for them. Our goal is to have a workforce that is representative of society and the communities in which we work. As an inclusive, family friendly employer we believe that everyone matters, and we are committed to ensuring that everyone has the same opportunities to be able to reach their full potential.

Role Requirements

  • Degree in relevant discipline, APM membership (desirable) with 10 to 15 years’ experience (desirable).
  • Strategy & Plans: Develop deep insight into the Energy Resilience market in the context of Costain’s services and value proposition within that market. Build these insights into the sector work winning plan.
  • Customers & Markets: Identification and growth of a pipeline of commissions and projects (prospects) with both new and existing clients that aligns with our business plan and growth ambition. Mindful of the dependency on policy development, a diversified portfolio of projects will be pursued.
  • Delivery: Development of prospect win strategies and support of fast turnaround and strategic proposal preparation and presentations to secure new business opportunities. Work with SMEs to develop creative solutions to client challenges in a way that differentiates Costain in the market. Lead bids as appropriate.
  • Champions Sustainability Safety, Health and Environment by putting personal safety and well being at the heart of everything we do and helping the environment and communities to thrive.
  • Having integrity by always doing the right thing in the right way.
  • Must be customer focussed by striving for excellence through understanding, anticipating and meeting their needs.

Working arrangement: This is a hybrid role with 2/3 days based in our office in Aberdeen.

This position has a competitive salary dependent on skills and experience, in addition to a fantastic benefits package including pension contribution matched up to 10%, a day off for your birthday and a dedicated professional development budget.
