1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant / Behaviour Support

Position Overview: The SEN (Special Educational Needs) Teaching Assistant provides support to students with Special Educational needs or disabilities within the classroom setting. Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), the SEN Teaching Assistant assists in the implementation of individualised education plans (IEPs) and supports students in accessing the curriculum.
Responsibilities
Supporting Individual Students: Provide one-on-one support to students with Special Educational needs or disabilities, helping them to understand instructions, complete tasks, and engage with learning activities.
Adapt learning materials and resources to suit the needs and abilities of individual students, ensuring they have access to the curriculum.
Assisting in Classroom Activities: Assist the class teacher in delivering lessons, activities, and interventions tailored to the needs of SEN students.
Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and included.
Monitoring Progress and Providing Feedback: Monitor the progress of SEN students, recording observations and gathering data to inform ongoing support and interventions.
Provide feedback to the class teacher and SENCO regarding the effectiveness of strategies and interventions, as well as any concerns or areas for improvement.
Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCO, and other staff members to develop and implement individualised education plans (IEPs) for SEN students.
Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers, providing updates on student progress, goals, and strategies for support.
Promoting Inclusion and Positive Behaviour: Encourage and facilitate the inclusion of SEN students in classroom activities, group work, and social interactions with their peers.
