Are you a dedicated and experienced Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) with a passion for making a positive impact on the lives of primary school children? Dunbar Education is currently seeking a qualified and experienced SEN TA to join our team in Bedford on a full-time basis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a primary school setting.
- Implement and adapt Individual Education Plans (IEPs) to support the learning needs of students, particularly those who are non-verbal.
- Incorporate sensory learning techniques to engage and support children with diverse needs.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for children with Special Educational needs.
- Collaborate with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and other professionals to support the overall development and well-being of students.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in an educational setting.
- Proven experience working with primary school-aged children, with a focus on non-verbal communication.
- Experience incorporating sensory learning techniques into daily activities.
- An up-to-date and clear Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check on the update service. Or willing to obtain one.
- Must possess a valid driving license.
Desirable Skills:
- Relevant qualifications in Special Education Needs or related field.
- Knowledge of different teaching strategies and techniques for supporting non-verbal children with ASD.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and other professionals.
