Starting Salary: Circa GBP45-50,000 Dependant upon experience
Contract terms: Full-time, permanent, 41 weeks per annum, 40 hours a week
Monday to Friday: 08:00am until 16:00
Hunts Recruitment is seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join a passionate team. As the SENCO, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that all of the schools SEN pupils receive the support and resources they need to thrive both academically and socially.
About Role:
- The role of the SENCO is important both to the ongoing strategic development of the school as well as the effective integration of the school's educational and therapeutic functions.
- The SENCO will be a member of the Leadership Team working within the Admissions and Pupil Wellbeing Team.
- You will make a significant contribution to the core purpose of the school which is to ensure that all pupils achieve their best academic and personal potential, take a leading role in promoting and supporting exceptional standards for all pupils and a positive ethos within the school.
- This will be achieved by close professional liaison and dialogue with colleagues in the Clinical Team, Educational Team, Parents, and External Stakeholders.
The successful candidate will ideally have:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant postgraduate qualification in Special Educational Needs.
Proven experience working as a SENCO or in a similar role.
Leadership skills to inspire and motivate other teachers, model good practice and embed a whole school commitment to supporting all pupils
Comprehensive understanding of SEND legislation, policies, and best practices. A willingness and ability to develop specialist knowledge and keep up to date with local and national policy and developments
Strong written and spoken communication and interpersonal skills. Empathy and emotional intelligence, for recognising and responding sensitively to the needs of pupils and parents
A thorough understanding of pedagogical and therapeutic principles and practices.
Be an experienced team player and excellent educational practitioner to offer effective classroom strategies to members of the teaching group.
Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and necessary for analysing school, local national data and developing appropriate strategies and interventions.

The School is a mixed 7-16, local authority funded, SEN day school for children, most of whom have high functioning ASD.
Every pupil is valued and treated as an individual and with respect. You will work within a team with extensive experience and expertise in special education and therapeutic support for pupils whose needs can no longer be met in a mainstream provision.
