Reed Education is supporting a SEN specialist school in finding a Primary Teacher who can deliver high-quality teaching and learning to students aged between 6 - 16 with difficulties with communication and social interaction, typically associated with Autism. This is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students and their families, contribute to the school's broad and creative curriculum, and work within a supportive, collaborative, and committed multi-disciplinary team.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Contribute to the delivery and development of the curriculum, considering the educational, physical, and social needs of the students.
- Work collaboratively with other members of staff as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Maintain and use short, medium, and long-term plans in delivering the curriculum.
- Set, monitor, and review personalised targets to optimise learning for each individual.
- Monitor, assess, review, and report on the progress and work of students to parents, team members, senior staff, examination and funding bodies.
- Develop lesson plans, analysing and self-reflecting on the outcomes.
- Contribute to the review of Statements and EHC plans, PEP and LAC reviews.
- Provide clear structures for lessons maintaining pace, motivation, and challenge.
- Maintain an overall awareness of current issues in the field of autism to plan for effective teaching and learning.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- PGCE, QTS, or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training.
- Experience of teaching secondary age in a primary manner is desirable.
- Ability to teach across a range of subjects.
- Relevant knowledge and experience of pupils with ASD, SEMH, and PDA profile.
- Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
- Experience of managing a range of approaches to behaviour, including managing behaviours that challenge.
