As a Specialist Autism Support Officer for Doncaster Autism Service (DAS) affiliated with ASCETS (Autism Social communication Education Training Service) and the Educational Psychology Service you will be part of a team of professionals committed to advocating for children and young people and working closely with families and other agencies.
DAS is a community organisation which was set up in April 2022 and has been going from strength to strength. The service provides support to autistic children, young people and adults and their carers and families. A wide range of community based activities are offered as well as 1:1 post diagnosis sessions for individuals who have just received an ASD diagnosis. These activities and support include, social groups, art sessions, Dungeons and Dragons, counselling, health and well-being therapies, telephone befriending, workshops and various activities during school holidays.
The role of Specialist Autism Support Officer will primarily involve supporting a Lead Teacher to plan, prepare, and deliver 1:1 support sessions and workshops for autistic individuals.
