NHS England, a number of health care providers from across West Yorkshire and Leeds Beckett University are undertaking a regional campaign to recruitregistered nurses or midwivesto undertake a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse-School Nurse training programme to start in September 2024.
You must have a current Nursing or Midwifery registration and hold a first degree in a relevant subject (2:2 or above) OR you can ask Leeds Beckett University to consider your experience as equivalence to a degree by completing our Professional Portfolio Development module (please contact Leeds Beckett for details. The last intake before the PG Dip commences will be late January 2024). *Applicants considered for the Apprenticeship route will need to evidence GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C
If you successfully obtain a place on the programme you will be seconded onto the course by one of our Sponsor Employers who offer Practice Placements or by your own employer if they also provide School Nursing Placements. Subject to confirmation, students on this course are eligible for a paid salary and will have their course fees paid by the NHS.
Due to the nature of this role, it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes throughout the course. Where necessary, adjustments will be made in accordance with the Equality Act.

In line with the Nursing & Midwifery Council expectations for Post Registration Education standards, this course is currently being reviewed for September 2024 entry. Therefore, the information below is correct for students who join us in 2023/24, and there will be changes for students who wish to join us in 2024/25. These will be confirmed in the course specification made available to new applicants on this page as soon as it is available.
In addition, and following the publication of post registration Apprenticeship Standards, local NHS employers are consulting with Leeds Beckett University regarding an apprenticeship route for this course for delivery from September 2024. Until advised, applicants should apply for this Postgraduate Diploma standard delivery route and employers will discuss with applicants their mode of study prior to enrolment. Applicants will be advised about any changes as soon as possible. The new apprenticeship route is also subject to Nursing & Midwifery Council approval.
