We are looking for a Specialist, Exploration & Scouting for the Next Business Lab. Wärtsilä’s Next Business Lab is a strategic innovation team within Energy on a mission to explore innovations to accelerate the energy transition together with our Business Units. The team scouts for ecosystem partners supports in incubation of ideas, and fosters our innovation culture. Position information:
In this permanent position, you will report to the Director, Next Business Lab, Energy Business. The preferred location for the position is in Vaasa (Finland), but also Helsinki is a possible location.
Your tasks and projects will include:
- Organising workshops and events for matchmaking and ecosystem-building
- Translating our business units’ innovation areas into scouting and exploration opportunities
- Being the linchpin between emerging technology vendors and the Energy Business units, shortlisting vendors that align with business unit strategies
- Performing initial assessments, and cultivating relationships that benefit us, the vendors and the ecosystem
- Be Wärtsilä Energy’s key user for the global idea-handling tool
- Managing incubation activities like challenges and campaigns
- Support the development of our acceleration initiatives
- Ensuring that the needed KPIs, analytics, and reporting are set up to track progress and results
Requirements:
- 2+ years of related experience in innovation, start-ups, R&D, business development or other relevant field
- A master’s or bachelor’s degree in engineering or other relevant field of study
- Understanding of innovation methods and how these can enable profitable growth
- Experience in facilitating workshops, events, or campaigns
- Planning, project management, and prioritization skills
- An analytical mindset and experience in turning data into analysis and actionable insights
- Experience working in cross-cultural teams is seen as a benefit
- Fluent in English with strong verbal and written communication skills
- Good command of Finnish and/or Swedish will be considered an advantage
- Excellent networking and relationship-building skills
