Specialist Physiotherapist | Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust

Having gained significant specialist experience in learning disability and through their study, reflection and practice in Learning Disability services, the post holder will use their highly developed specialist knowledge and deep understanding of Physiotherapy, to act as an expert resource for Physiotherapy practice within the Learning Disability service supra-locality i.e. East, Central and North Lancashire.
Autonomous in their practice, the post holder prioritises planning, delivering and supervising interventions for people whose learning disability has a marked impact on their communication and mobility and functional activity. They will assess and deliver a range of group and or individual interventions drawn from relevant frames of reference, and demonstrate sophisticated skills of critical thinking, reflection and analysis in their critical reasoning. They can manage challenging situations and work with people with challenging behaviour and complex needs, identifying and working to manage inherent risks.
This post will involve managing a caseload of adults with learning disability and associated conditions. This may include people with complex needs, sensory impairments, challenging behaviour, autism and mental health conditions. The therapist will work with clients, relatives, carers (both informal and formal) and other professionals to manage the continuing changes.
We are currently seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and motivated physiotherapist to join a busy and well respected Integrated Learning Disability Service, which covers the Lancashire locality. We are very pleased to be able to offer these two senior posts, which would be based in the Pennine Lancashire locality.
The successful candidates will be expected to take a specific clinical lead roles in relation to physiotherapy assessment and intervention adults, including supporting people with postural care needs. They will contribute to the broader aims of the service through joint working, consultation, training, supervision and service development/research.
Service transformation has allowed the development of this post in order to meet the needs of the service. Consequently, you will be joining the service at an exciting time and helping to influence change going forward. You will benefit from an enthusiastic, hard-working and supportive peer group and will be part of a community of professionals within the Trust and Network.
The post-holder will receive regular supervision and professional support from a senior physiotherapist, and a wider network of AHP leads within the both the service and the Trust.
Lancashire &South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including secondary mental health care across this area. Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care.
The Trust also provides a range of physical health and well-being services in the community alongside a range of partners in the Lancashire, Cumbria and Sefton area.
