Job summary
An exciting opportunity is available to join the Brighton and Hove School Nurse Team.
We are looking for an experienced School Nurse to join us to act as a specialist resource for the Healthy Child Programme team to help us deliver our service to a defined caseload of children and young people.
You will join our leadership team and provide expertise and knowledge in implementing, monitoring and evaluating effective interventions to ensure needs are met.
Main duties of the job
To manage and maintain a clinical caseload of children with specific need , providing a service in a variety of settings.
Act as a clinical expert in transient families, health and cultural issues; developing, leading and participating in training, education and orientation programmes for staff, students and others as required.
Works with the Service Manager to ensure appropriate utilisation of allocated resources and works within budget restraints to deliver the service.

Job description
Job responsibilities
Provides, supervises, and supports the delivery of an effective programme of childhood developmental surveillance and health promotion activities both within the organisation and with community partners
Ensures effective liaison and communication with other professional groups within the Trust and outside agencies, acts as a health information source and works in partnership in the interests of clients.
Identifies community health needs in partnership with health and other agencies, to jointly develop and deliver appropriate services.

Essential
  • Registered SCPHN
  • Expereince of working with children out of schools and vulnerable families with schools aged children
  • experience of children educated other than at school and transient families

  • Demonstrable experience of working with children educated out of school and vulnerable families with school aged children.
  • Demonstrable experience of leading innovation and development/service improvement
  • Demonstrate teaching experience skills and knowledge
  • To understand, identify and act upon changing needs of asylum seeking and refugee children and their families

  • Knowledge and ability to maintain robust clinical governance to deliver safe, high-quality service

  • To be able to generate reports to enable the wider system to understand the demand, activity and outcomes for the children and families you are working with
