Job Description: We are currently seeking a dedicated Specialist Student Support Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will provide essential support, including Personal Care, to a female student with specific needs. Full training will be provided to ensure the highest standards of care and support are maintained.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivering Personal Care support to a female student in accordance with individual care plans and college policies.
- Assisting the student with daily activities, including personal hygiene routines, mobility support, and any other necessary tasks.
- Providing emotional support and encouragement to the student to foster their independence and confidence.
- Collaborating with other members of the support team, educators, and relevant professionals to ensure holistic support for the student's academic and personal development.
- Maintaining accurate records of support provided, progress, and any incidents or concerns, ensuring confidentiality and data protection standards are upheld.
- Participating in relevant training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in supporting students with diverse needs.
- Adhering to safeguarding procedures and promptly reporting any safeguarding concerns or incidents to designated safeguarding officers.
- Previous experience in a care or support role, preferably working with individuals with additional needs or disabilities.
- Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards supporting individuals with diverse needs, including those requiring Personal Care assistance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with students, colleagues, and external professionals.
- Ability to follow care plans and instructions accurately, while also being adaptable and responsive to the individual needs of the student.
- Commitment to upholding safeguarding, confidentiality, and equality principles in all aspects of the role.
- Willingness to undergo relevant training and continuous professional development, including mandatory training in areas such as safeguarding and manual handling.
- Must hold an ENhanced DBS check, dated in the last 3 months or on the update service.
