Salary scale - 2022 Specialty Doctor (Scotland) and Associated Specialist (Scotland) contracts

Applications are invited for an enthusiastic Specialty Doctor in Anaesthesia to join the team in providing anaesthesia for the surgical specialities of orthopaedics and general surgery.

As a National Waiting Time Centre, we receive patient referrals from all over Scotland. The Department of Orthopaedics is now one of the largest arthroplasty units in the United Kingdom, delivering over 25% of all hip and knee replacements for the NHS in Scotland (approx. 4,000 joints, 600 foot and ankle, 450 Hand & Wrist and 120 other orthopaedic procedures).

Our Phase 2 expansion, which will open late this year, will result in a significant growth in our Orthopaedic and General programmes. The general surgery service is focussed primarily on day case and colorectal surgery, which includes major open, robotic assisted and laparoscopic procedures.

The successful candidate will also support the Acute Pain Service (APS) and our orthopaedic pre-operative assessment clinic. There will be an opportunity to undertake Quality Improvement / clinical audit. As well as providing valuable clinical experience, this post will also provide the opportunity for professional development as preparation for further career progression in the specialty.
