Job description:

  • Ensuring round-the-clock Emergency Medicine coverage by collaborating with Specialty Doctors and Registrars.
  • Delivering prompt patient care upon their arrival, working in tandem with Trainees.
  • Offering mentorship and assistance to Trainees to enhance their skills.
  • Engaging actively in educational and audit initiatives within the department.
  • Appointees share duties equally with Specialty Doctors in the department. Specialty Doctors must be present during shifts; no on-call room is provided, and night duties are full shifts.

  • Appointees must follow Trust policies and procedures, including clinical guidelines and financial instructions. Compliance with employment, personnel, and Health and Safety policies is essential.

  • Responsibility includes facilitating communication for staff with delegated patient care duties.

  • We offer flexibility in job planning, with a standard plan of 12 PAs, including 1.5 SPA.

  • Department supports CESR programs for experienced doctors and individual career goals, providing diverse experiences and training.

  • Affordable on-site hospital accommodation may be available.

Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • MBChB or equivalent

Desirable criteria

  • MCEM, FRCS, MRCS, MRCP or equivalent
  • Distinctions/Honours

Experience & Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • 3 years Postgraduate experience including some experience in an Emergency Medicine Department
  • ALS
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively
  • Ability to make good medical notes

Desirable criteria

  • ATLS
  • 1 year or more of previous Emergency Medicine experience
  • Willingness to undertake some management and/or administrative duties
  • Required Skills

    2. Previous experience in teaching Junior Medical Staff.
