The Imaging Department at Doncaster Royal Infirmary comprises four general X-Ray rooms, a DEXA room, two digital screening rooms, and a dental room. There are total of 3 CT scanners. Siemens Edge and a Siemens Go 128 slice scanners were installed in 2020 in a brand new CT scanning suite. A Siemens Somatom Definition AS 64 slice CT scanner was installed in September 2011. The interventional suite consists of two adjacent rooms. The main room is used for vascular and general interventional procedures and was replaced in 2012. The other is used predominately for cardiac work. The MRI is a 1.5T Siemens Aera, commissioned in spring 2011, and housed adjacent to the department in refurbished accommodation. Seven state-of-the-art ultrasound machines are sited in a purpose built Ultrasound suite within the main department and provide general ultrasound examinations. There is a separate ultrasound unit in the Womens Hospital with five ultrasound machines for obstetric and gynaecological examinations. A range of nuclear medicine scans are delivered by a SPECT/CT machine, which was installed in 2012. Satellite radiography rooms are present in the Orthopaedic Clinic and Tickhill Road Hospital. Medical Imaging sits within the Clinical Specialties division, which also includes Pathology, Pharmacy, Theatres, Intensive Care and Outpatient Services. Fuji PACS is well established and is supported by Vital RIS, incorporating voice recognition reporting, and ICE Order Communication.
