SalaryStroke Service First class opportunity to undertake clinical assessment of a suspected stroke or TIA in an adult patient referred as an emergency to hospital or in an out-patient setting. Arranging and interpreting appropriate investigations, self-sufficiency in imaging like brain scan and carotid Doppler to support or exclude diagnosis of a suspected stroke or TIA and its cause. The management of TIA and common stroke mimics with current and emerging interventional management of patients undergoing cerebral reperfusion therapies in acute ischemic stroke. The management of immediate post-acute care of stroke including end-of-life care for stroke patients. Management of secondary prevention strategies following stroke or TIA. Neurology Service Management of inpatients with a range of complex neurological issues including multiple sclerosis, Parkinsons disease, epilepsy and motor neurone disease. Management and interpretation of appropriate radiological and clinical investigations, including leading a lumbar puncture list Independently delivering general neurology outpatient clinics, with supervision from consultants. General Contribute to post-discharge medical care, rehabilitation and longer term social and vocational integration. Opportunities to contribute to the development of a stroke service and provide leadership to such a service. Undertake teaching and training of stroke related topics for medical undergraduates, post-graduates and other healthcare professionals.
