Your new company
This role is with an established client of Hays\' based in Glasgow. The organisation is now looking for an experienced SQL Database Administrator to join them, with a salary of up £55,000 per annum.
Please note: applicants must be able to travel to office in Glasgow 2-3 days per week.
Your new role
As a SQL Database Administrator, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance of IAAS SQL server and Azure SQL databases to meet organisational needs.
You will monitor system health and performance, develop robust database analysis, and troubleshoot issues in real-time.
You will automate common management tasks using PowerShell, maintain SQL Server security through regular auditing, and patch the SQL estate to keep SQL servers secure and in a supportable state.
You will also continue the rebuild project work of old world and existing SQL Server instances and Azure SQL, backup and recover SQL Server and Azure SQL databases, and ensure data and applications are highly available.
You will participate in disaster recovery planning for all production systems and ensure that all data handling and processing activities comply with relevant data protection laws and regulations.
You will architect and execute database upgrade strategies to seamlessly integrate with emerging cloud technologies, enhance monitoring capabilities using PowerShell, SQL Agent Jobs, TSQL, Azure tools and components, and strive for cost optimisation across all Azure database infrastructures.
You will provide analysis and development support to BI, application, and project teams, adhere to best practices frameworks for change and release management, work systematically under pressure and in complex situations, evaluate business requests, identify best practices and provide database usage and performance reports.
You will also provide overnight on-call support for the Database infrastructure.
What you'll need to succeed
Essential:
- Well-versed as a Database Administrator in a SQL Server environment, experienced in performance monitoring & database optimisation tools, as well as back-up & recovery tools.
- Proficiency in every corner of database technologies, specifically the MS SQL stack, including Azure SQL and associated cloud technologies.
- TSQL, SSIS and SSRS
- POSH
- Power BI
- Reporting, ETL & Data Warehousing
- Development & Support Skills
Desirable:
- Experience as a development DBA
- ITIL Service Management
- Commercial knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics and Power Automate
- Azure DP 300 certification
- BI/MI Development
