Job Summary
Are you a quality safety, health and environmental professional with a passion for making a difference on a global scale? Look no further! Farnell Global is on the hunt for an exceptional individual to step into the shoes of our retiring Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality Manager (SHEQ) and lead our commitment to SHEQ.
As our Global SHEQ Manager, you will be the guardian of our commitment to quality, safety, and environmental stewardship. You will hold full responsibility for the management, development and guidance of Quality Safety, Health and Environmental Management Systems to meet business requirements, legal obligations, support of the Avnet Group and the requirements of any relevant international standards that may apply.
THIS ROLE IS A HYBRID ROLE BUT WILL REQUIRE A MINIMUM OF 3 DAYS ON SITE IN LEEDS.
This key role involves:
Quality Assurance Expertise: Leverage your strong quality background to implement and enhance our SHEQ standards, ensuring compliance and driving a culture of excellence.
Auditing Excellence: Conduct internal and lead external audit in both the Quality and SHE arenas with precision and finesse, identifying opportunities for improvement and ensuring that our processes align with international standards and global best practices.
Global Collaboration: Work closely with counterparts in the Americas and Asia regions, promoting cross-functional teamwork and sharing best practices to elevate our global SHEQ initiatives.
UK and Europe Focus: Take direct charge of all SHEQ-related duties in the UK and Europe, ensuring that our operations meet and exceed regulatory requirements.
As our Global SHEQ Manager, you'll play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing our commitment to quality safety, health and environmental commitments across the UK and Europe. Collaborate closely with counterparts in the Americas and Asia, as you step into the shoes of a retiring leader.
Some Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for developing global quality management systems, extending to all physical locations e.g. DC’s, BCC’s and Sales Offices as well as all support functions. Implement quality systems to meet the requirements of Farnell customers and international standards enabling business development as guided by the executive team
  • Development and collation of all SHEQ reporting activity from all Farnell businesses to provide regular and timely reporting to the business up to Avnet. Represent the Farnell business on ESG activities with the Avnet group.
  • Oversee and implement SHEQ policies, ensuring compliance with industry standards and local regulations. Implementation of practices and procedures conforming to ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 and EN/AS9120 and supporting Avnet ESG programmes
  • Responsible for developing a safety culture, supporting systems, audit, risk assessment, training plans and programmes appropriate to group policy and local legislation
  • Collaborate with teams globally to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct risk assessments and audits to identify areas for improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned
What We're Looking For:
  • Significant, demonstrable experience in the application of SHEQ policies and practices
  • Educated to degree level with relevant Quality, Health and Safety and Environmental qualification or experience.
  • Ability to undertake quality and safety audits
  • Understanding, defining and applying required legislative differences across multiple regions
  • Strong ability to collaborate and influence across multiple functions and locations
What would be nice to have:
  • Knowledge / experience of working in electronics and/or distribution environment
  • Experience of global and regional requirements and ways of working
  • Managing and motivating remote teams
  • Knowledge of aerospace EN/AS 9100, medical or automotive quality system
  • Continuous improvement certification, e.g. six sigma
